The Rim Fire has grown to 11,000 acres and is at the edge of Groveland, Ca today, August 20, 2013. The evacuation center which had been in place at the Tioga High School in Groveland has been closed, the evacuation center was moved to the Tuolumne County Fairgrounds in Sonora, Ca., the purpose of the move is to accommodate the larger number of evacuees expected.
Evacuations have been extended to Buck Meadows, Early Intake, Evergreen Lodge, San Jose Family Camp, Rainbow Pool, Spinning Wheel Forest Service Facility Packard Canyon and the Yosemite Inn.
The forward Southwesterly spread of the fire was halted yesterday due to rain showers on that section of the front. Southeasterly, the fire continues to grow more aggressively, moving across Hwy 120. The West Gate entrance to Yosemite is closed indefinitely at this time.
The Red Flag Warning issued by the NOAA has been updated and includes much of Central California is noting an increased likelihood of lightning strikes and thunderstorms until Wednesday August 21, 2013 at 11:00 p.m.
The Tuolumne County Air Pollution Control District has issued an Air Quality Alert Message. Reports of ash fall were reported to Examiner.com as far away as San Andreas in Calaveras County and even to Jackson, Ca. in Amador County today.

MML reports Tuolumne County Sheriff has advised all residents and workers remaining at Camp Towanga to evacuate, as well as the residents on Ferretti Road and Clements Road in the Groveland area.
Hand lines are being laid in the Pine Mountain Lake subdivision along with sections of Groveland itself by firefighters.
Tuolumne County Transit is offering $1 rides from Groveland to the Evacuation Center at the Tuolumne County Fairgrounds for South County resident lacking transportation.
The Big Oak Flat-Groveland Unified School District cancelled all classes for safety reason today August 20, classess for Wednesday August 21, 2013 have also been cancelled throughout the district.
