Rihanna’s tour buses were stopped and searched at the Ambassador Bridge Canadian border near Detroit. Rihanna was not on board, but a hint of marijuana – weed – was found on an unnamed passenger, reports the Detroit Free Press on Wednesday, March 20. The 10 buses were traveling from Toronto to Detroit, on Rihanna’s “Diamonds” concert tour.
Drug-sniffing dogs were called in by the border guards, after one guard smelled pot smoke. In fact, he smelled “the strong odor of Marijuana emanating from one of the buses,” according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) report. This all happened about 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. All of Rihanna’s buses were stopped and searched.
The dog which responded, agreed. In fact, the drug-sniffing canine pointed right to the alleged guilty party – a person who has not been named. That person was cited and fined for possession of a controlled substance, a small amount of which was found. Could it have been a band member? Part of the stage crew? Surely it was not the driver.
Ten buses make quite a caravan. The next show, which will not be affected by this situation, will be Thursday night at Joe Louis Arena, in Detroit. And the laryngitis which has been bothering Rihanna recently, seems to be gone.
