The ladies of The View were swept away Tuesday morning by a "Hot Topics" discussion of Rihanna's controversial new photo shoot for GQ magazine. The Viewettes were particularly enthralled with one photo of Rihanna reclined on a staircase with both hands covering her crotch--and featuring a whole lot of underboob.
Joy Behar, usually the most liberal of the yentas at The View coffee table, gasped at the featured photo Rihanna hands-on-my-crotch photo, stating: "That picture's very provocative".
What continued appeared to be part of an episode of The View in Bizarro-world, Elisabeth Hasselbeck stated that the photo was, in fact, not controversial and tried to educate the other biddies on the "artistic" merits of the photo.
"I think if you look at it artistically, it's a control photo," said Elisabeth Hasselbeck snottily. "I think it's her saying--'Mine'."
Sherri Shepherd agreed: "It's like: 'I'm a bad girl and I'm taking control'."
Barbara Walters then distilled the moral lesson that The View viewers should take away from the crotch-n-boob shot: "Look," said Barbara Walters. "The message is, no matter how provocative you dress, look, do, behave--it's not excuse for abuse."
Joy Behar nullified Barbara Walters' downer vibe with a pinch of levity: "She doesn't want to be a victim of abuse. She wants to be a fashion victim I guess."
