Rihanna’s upcoming year will be Chris Brown free. Apparently the artist is tired of her connection to the rapper and has done what most ladies do to move on from a relationship. According to Hollywood Life on Sunday the star started the New Year by burning the letters she got from the entertainer. Yep, his apology went up in smoke! According to Contact Music, Rihanna burnt the letter and pronounced: "Good riddance."

Considering all the drama between the couple, who could blame Rihanna if she felt pretty good about her decision, but there the concerns of the gifts Chris Brown gave her. Of course if she gives the jewelry to someone else, they could make a profits, so why not just do that herself? Apparently she is selling the gold necklace too. This special piece is worth a pretty penny and it is not like she can give it to charity. With all that has happened between the two stars, it would bring out all the drama from the past few years, including when Brown was charged with assault on Rihanna. Fans will never forget the photo of Rihanna's battered face.

Starting the New Year without all the baggage of a troubled man, might be the best New Year’s resolution yet. Everyone knows that relationships don’t always work so it’s better to move on and remember the good times. Getting rid of the material possessions will help move the process along.
