Rihanna has partnered with MAC Cosmetics, becoming the latest celebrity along the lines of Katie Holmes and Jennifer Aniston, sealing her brand in the latest beauty business trend, according to “Women’s Wear Daily”, Feb. 20.
Just add mega mogul, fashion designer and beauty entrepreneur to Rihanna’s resume. Besides a stellar music career, Rihanna recently signed on to produce the reality television competition, “Styled to Rock”, has launched her new fashion line during London Fashion Week, Rihanna for River Island, and now has entered into a beauty partnership with MAC Cosmetics.
According to “WWD”, MAC has named Rihanna a “creative partner” marking the first time the cosmetics company has collaborated with a celebrity on any project other than a one-shot deal, which John Demsey, group president of the Estee Lauder Cos. Inc., MAC’s parent company, likened to dating.
We always say that MAC likes to go on a date but doesn’t really want to go into a relationship. This relationship with Rihanna is a long-term one that involves the development of four distinct color initiatives.
RiRi (hearts) MAC will be available in four separate collections, with RiRi Woo featured as the signature piece for all, including Rihanna’s "John Hancock" on the wrapping and embossed on particular beauty items.
MAC gave Rihanna carte-blanche in creating her cosmetics line, detailing her packaging and experimenting with colors with the help of her friends.
I really got to play. There’s so much to choose from, and you can mix different textures with different colors and different greens in different eye shadows. I learned so much about the detail of makeup and what makes things look different. What makes it apply different is really important. Every little detail is important.
RiRi Woo and the soon to be summer collection can be purchased online or at Rihanna concerts. The third collection for fall will be available in stores and a special holiday edition of RiRi (hearts) MAC will be on display at MAC makeup counters.
MAC Cosmetics and RiRi (hearts) MAC, when launched, can be found on Long Island at Macy’s located in Lake Grove and Valley Stream or MAC Roosevelt Field in Garden City.
