Rihanna and Chris Brown have both come out separately recently and explicitly denied that they are reunited as a couple. The two said in individual interviews that they’re just friends and nothing more. Rihanna, 24, told Bravo’s Andy Cohen, “No. Not together”, when asked if she is dating Chris during a Facebook Live chat Wednesday. The Boombox reports today that Brown, 23, gave a similar emphatic denial in an interview with Power 106 radio station in L.A. Friday.
Rihanna and Chris Brown face persistent rumors that they’ve reconciled since they took their “togetherness” public last month. The two famously split after he assaulted her back in 2009, for which he is still under probation.
Responding to Cohen’s questions about the status of their relationship, Rihanna added, “If I had it my way, it would be really nobody's business”. That’s ironic given her new album “Unapologetic” is due out on Nov. 19 and includes a collaboration track with Brown called “Nobodies Business”.
Rihanna insisted the title refers to the fact that her life is lived under such scrutiny and is constantly in the public, that she just needs to keep a “little bit” for herself that’s private and her own.
Chris Brown said, “Me and her have history and me and her are definitely always going to be best of friends. And we're working on our friendship now”, according to MTV News.
Perhaps more telling were some of the more cryptic words he used describe his relationship with Rihanna. Chris asserted, “As far as our personal life, I think people just got to give it a chance - or not even give it a chance, but shut the hell up. It's me. At the end of the day, whatever opinion they have ain't going to change nothing I'm doing”.
Meanwhile on Global Grind “BlogXilla” insists the two are lying with their denials, and is actually happy they are. He points out that the last time Rihanna and Chris were together they weren’t pegged as girlfriend and boyfriend until the infamous fight night.
He writes, “ When people are up in your business, that's when you give others the space to tear things down”. He seems to think they’ll deny, deny, deny for the foreseeable future.
“I've seen this all before. Both Chris and Rih are going to be adamant about keeping their relationship under wraps - even if it's crystal clear that they are back together”, Xilla writes, making note of how with the proliferation of social media today, more and more people live their lives vicariously through their favorite celebrities.
