Right Wing Radio Review: week of March 16, 2009

Sick of the David Frum/Rush Limbaugh feud that's taken up the last couple of weeks? Good news: last week we witnessed a shortlived but intense feud between radio host Laura Ingraham and John McCain's daughter and budding faux con pundit Meghan McCain.

Did Laura insult McCain's weight, or was Ingraham misunderstood? Ingraham maintains that the media blew the story out of proportion. She wrote on her website:

"Memo to Meghan McCain: Enjoy the media coverage while it lasts, but know you're being used. You are the flavor of the month in left-wing media land because you are a Republican bashing the GOP. (...)

"The left's indignation in this instance is manufactured and totally phony. If any off-the-cuff remark about a woman's size was condemnable, then where was the outrage when President Obama made a passing reference to Jessica Simpson's "weight battle" during his Super Bowl interview with Matt Lauer? And of course they look the other way when obvious personal attacks are levied against conservatives. Remember when Al Franken was the toast of all media for his book "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot"? Last month The View's Joy Behar called him a "fat guy"; and when I was a guest on The View a few years back she ridiculed Ann Coulter and me as "peroxide" blondes on Fox. I laughed it off. If you can't stand the heat...get out of the punditry business."

The LA Times declared conservative talk radio on the wane in California. However, Brian Maloney of the Radio Equalizer blog fisks the story, blasting the story's sheer dishonesty. Great reading!

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS:

Dennis Miller made fun of Glenn Beck on The Factor:

***
My favorite segment this week was Dennis Prager's conversation with Dan Gordon, who has He written a new Broadway play, Irena's Vow. It concerns a young Polish woman, Irena Opdyke, who saved a dozen Jews during the Holocaust. Gordon first Examiner.com Examiner Publishing Toolheard about this woman's extraordinary story on Dennis's show. A thrilling, inspiring and moving true story.

Prager also spoke with Jamie Glazov, whose new book United in Hate I reviewed here.

Hugh Hewitt's stellar guest lineup included Victor Davis Hanson, sounding more like Eeyore every day. Like many of Hewitt's guests, like Mark Steyn, Hanson is increasingly depressed by Obama's socialist plans for the country.

Rush Limbaugh had another great week. Despite controversy, Rush has escalated his fearless criticism of Obama. Rush took particular exception to Obama's appearance on Jay Leno, calling the President's appearance on the show "vulgar", and accusing Obama of acting more like a "pop culture celebrity than a President."

While Rush Limbaugh's audio archives are usually subscriber-only, he's posted a FREE audio clip from one of last week's monologues, this one on the importance of individualism.

Sarah Palin has allot of growing up to do.
They who voted for her as govenver no not what
    they did.
She a voice without any real substance.
She reminds me of the 14 childrenS mother Suleman geT real. THATS A CRIME AGAINST CHILDREN
thinks her life will get better. Who is fooling who.
Any woman with half a brain would give those
children to parents could afford them. with
    love and attention.
Both Palin and I forget the other womens name
should think long and hard before doing anything.

Excellent clip from Limbaugh, but dear lord the visual that went with the recording was trippy. I felt like I was being hypnotized by the individualism guru.
Miller as usual is right. Beck is super (I miss him, don't have Fox), but I wish somebody'd hide his copy of the Book of Revelation. Makes him seem crazy, which I don't think he is.

Good link to Dennis Miller on O'Riely. As always, common sense with comedy.

I like your new do too, Kathy. Marriage and fame, or should that be infamy :), has been good for you.
