A man with a rifle was spotted in a J.C. Penney store in Riverdale, Utah Wednesday, Huffington Post reports Jan. 18.
Joseph Kelley took a strange approach to educating the public on the safety of guns owned by law-abiding citizens by toting an AR-15 across his chest while entering a J.C. Penney department store. He was also armed with a loaded Glock 19C handgun.
Kelley said the response he received wasn't really that bad. He said he often carries firearms to protect children and others against "criminals, cartels, drug lords" and other "evil men."
Cindy Yorgason, the woman who snapped photos of Kelley carrying a rifle in J.C. Penney admitted to not feeling threatened when she noticed him. She didn't agree with the place he chose to exercise his Second Amendment rights.
"He was in the wrong place and shouldn't be doing this at this location," Yorgason said.
Given the recent tragic events of the Sandy Hook shooting and the mall shooting in Portland, Ore. in December, it's a miracle more people didn't panic over Kelley's very public gun education.
