Rielle Hunter speaks out for the first time about John Edwards affair in a GQ interview and with Barbara Walters. Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards had an affair with Rielle Hunter and a child that he admitted to last year. Edwards lost his wife and his reputation over the four year affair.
Rielle Hunter worked with Edwards at one time. She spoke about their affair for the first time in a 1,000 word interview with GQ magazine. When Hunter saw the photos over the weekend that would appear in GQ she was upset that they were not what she thought they would be. Hunter told Barbara Walters on Monday that she cried for two hours when she saw them.
In the GQ interview Hunter said that she that the first time she saw Edwards, she said, "You're so hot," in February of 2006.
Hunter said that Edwards responded, "Why, thank you" and later that "falling in love with you could really f---up my plans for becoming president."
Hunter said that the relationship was unlike anything she had ever experienced. Hunter remained silent throughout the public scandal that broke about their affair.
The photos that appear in GQ (click here to see) are very different from the off the cuff photos the media has taken of Hunter. Many people are saying she looks great. And the GQ interviewer said that over time, she thought Hunter would be proud of them.
Edwards, 56, denied the affair with Hunter for quite some time after the story broke. In August of 2008 he admitted to the affair and in January finally admitted that the two-year-child Hunter had was his. Throughout the entire ordeal, Edwards wife, Elizabeth was battling stage four cancer.
In the GQ interview, Hunter said that she was paid by Edwards in the form of a "gift" each month.
The most public Utah affair scandal occurred in 1906 when Senator Author Brown was shot and killed by a jealous mistress and she was later acquitted on a temporary insanity plea. This affair made number four on America's Top 10 Sex scandals.
