Ridley Creek State Park preserves a wealth of resources to be enjoyed by those who come to picnic and delight in activities of nature and sport. Centered by the Hunting Hill Mansion and its formal gardens, and divided by Ridley Creek, this state park has much to offer within its setting of woodlands, meadows, fields and hills. For starters, 14 designated picnic areas are available, each equipped with charcoal grill, tables and rest rooms. To work off your delectable picnic grub, some are located near fields for your favorite games of sport while others are settled next to playgrounds trails. Perhaps hiking or biking is preferred to burn some calories. Ridley Creek State Park features 13 miles of unpaved hiking trails and 5 miles of paved multi-use biking and jogging trails.
Riding and fishing
Although separately managed, Hidden Valley Horse Farm is located within Ridley Creek State Park. Stables and boarding, riding lessons and pony rides are among the services provided. A 4.7 mile horseback riding trail begins near picnic area #8 if your plans include this fun combination. For many that live nearby, Ridley Creek State Park’s namesake creek is reason enough to visit. Stocked with trout Ridley Creek is a favorite of many local fishermen. A portion of the creek is designated fly fishing only and a platform is accessible from the multi-use trail.
