Riding the Transportation of the Future!

Tomorrowland Transit Authority
Tomorrowland Transit Authority

While not as well known as Space Mountain, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority is an excellent attraction to enjoy and get a preview of the possible transportation of the future. Opened on July 1, 1975 at Tomorrowland and originally known as the WEDWay PeopleMover, this futuristic and environmentally friendly transportation system gives riders a unique perspective of the Tomorrowland area. There are no height restrictions and it’s great for riders of all ages. Also amazingly, this attraction does not use an engine at all; instead it utilizes emission-free linear induction motors, making the tram accelerate magnetically.
One enters the attraction at Rocket Tower Plaza, the center of Tomorrowland. Lines are seldom ever an issue; on a typical day one should be able to get onto the ride in less than five minutes, partially due to the fact that the trams are in constant motion, only slowing down briefly to drop off and pick up riders. This makes it a great way to spend time while waiting to use a Fastpass for say, Space Mountain or Buzz Lightyear of Star Command.
One can gain a matchless perspective on different rides, cruising by windows that show the interior of the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command ride and some of the shops. One of the most exciting highlights is going inside of Space Mountain and travelling side by side of the roller coasters and riders flying by! One of the most breathtaking and historic showcases is a scale model of a futuristic city designed by Walt Disney himself, something that can only be viewed if riding the Tomorrowland Transit Authority.
So while on your Orlando visit, make sure you visit the Tomorrowland Transit Authority and give yourself a preview of the future!
