Ride in the waves or drown in the shallows!

When I was younger and semi-athletic, I used to ride the waves on Corpus Christi Beach. Several of my college mates and I would make plans to arrive at high tide and enjoy riding the waves and sometimes crashing during the thrill of the experience. Life is a lot like riding in the waves and sometimes having difficulty in the shallows. It is the hard times which will either make or break us.

I am convinced by personal experience that a person who has not encountered great difficulty will have a hard time succeding in all walks of life. It is very easy to call up special touchy feely Kodak moments with a smile but when recalling hardship times a sense of coldness may subside. The hard times will build us up and mold us into a much stronger person providing we embrace adversity and acquire teachable moments.

Like many other people, my life has had very high high's and some very low low's. I can say that to get the most out of life we must be williing to venture out and ride the wave's. The high tide may seem scary and a bit unpredicable, but the lessons learned through that period are worth much more than a urn full of gold.

Never be afraid to take a calculated risk; only be afraid of drowning in the shallows by not doing nothing at all. Riding the waves of life will build confidence and character. Go ahead and make it a personal plan to be a risk taker and reap the benefits of riding the wave!

I came across this really good poem written by Sara Rosenfeld that is posted for your inspiration:

Ride the waves of life my friend (By Sara Rosenfeld)
Some high, some fierce, some with no end
But you'll not be washed away by them
If you can ride the waves of life my friend

Weights may try to pull you down
Emotions full of pain
But hold on to a board
And ride the waves my friend

A board will keep you up above
The water deep and mean
And let you ride the waves of life
Ride the waves with ease

And what's the board, this heaven sent
To hold on to in the sea?
This board my friend is nothing new
You had it all along with you
But you have to know it's there before
You can use its strength to hold and more
The board my friend, is nothing new
It's just the strength of the inner you

So ride the waves of life my friend
Ride the waves with ease
Let the water splash your face
Like grass sprinkled with dew
For you can still keep the pace
IF you hold on to the strength of the real you
And ride the waves of life

Conclusion:
Go ahead and ride the waves of life but don't drown in the shallows!
