Anyone in search of the rich and vibrant colors of autumn should hop aboard the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad for the best viewing of the fall foliage in the Rocky Mountains. The colors are bursting and peak foliage season is starting now.
With the high levels of rain northern New Mexico and southern Colorado have received this summer, the fall leaves will be a spectacular display. This is a great experience for all ages.
You can jump on the train at either of the depots in Chama, New Mexico, or Antonito, Colorado, for what is sure to be a beautiful fall day.”
The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is jointly owned and operated by New Mexico and Colorado. The National Park Service recently designated the railroad as a National Historic Landmark. It is the highest and longest authentic steam-powered, narrow-gauge railroad in the U.S. The passenger railroad travels over its historic route between Chama, N.M., and Antonito, Colo.
