‘Ride Along’ cruises at the box office

It was an easy win for the new Kevin Hart comedy Ride Along as it dominates the box office with an estimated $41.2 million. This is almost double the other new movie to come out this weekend, The Nut Job, which only took in an estimated $20.5 million.

The other two new movies had mediocre openings, not reaching where it wanted to. Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit had a respectable opening, coming in around $17.2 million and Devil’s Due brought in an estimated $8.5 million.

Frozen is still going strong hitting double digits for the 9th straight weekend, bringing in an estimated $11.9 million. The movie is slowing down at the box office, so it might not hit the top spot for an animated movie that came out in 2013, but the box office that it has now and the fact that it’s moving to the theaters, is nothing to laugh at.

Overall it was a pretty solid weekend. The Lone Survivor took in an estimated $23.2 million and American Hustle took in an estimated $10.6 million to round out the movies that hit double digits.
