Thursday at 10 p.m., the new film Riddick: Blindsided was released and it is expected to be the best film to see this weekend; reviews for Riddick: Blindsided currently on IMBD are at 7.5/10 stars. The sci-fi thriller has a lot of violence, but fans have waited more than a decade for Vin Diesel to return to this character; Pitch Black was released in 2000. Riddick: Blindsided is the third film in the series and it most likely won’t be the last. The Chronicles of Riddick was released in 2004.
Riddick: Blindsided I rated R, is 119 minutes long and it stars: Vin Diesel, Karl Urban, Dave Bautista, Katee Sackhoff, Nolan Gerard Funk, Bokeem Woodbine, Jordi Mollà, Raoul Trujillo, and Antoinette Kalaj, according to the Business Insider.
The first two Riddick films were not big hits at the box office, but the number of fans has risen since the DVD release and this third movie is expected to do well at the box office. Pitch Black earned $53 million worldwide, which Chronicles of Riddick made $115 million (but cost $105 million to make).
Vin Diesel has repeated stated that he would like to see more Riddick movies made. He said this a few years ago:
The reality is that I always envisioned the 'Riddick' franchise as a continuing mythology, so I always imagined that there would be many other films to follow. And yet, I do feel like I answered that growing request from the fans that said, 'Please make another Riddick.'
