Despite her latex shoulder pads, piano full of heads, and nearly naked entrance inside an egg shell, Lady Gaga may have actually been outdone by Ricky Martin - specifically, Ricky Martin's pants.
Wearing metallic silver pants reminiscent of the tin man, Ricky Martin introduced Lady Gaga to the stage as Twitter exploded with commentary that largely overshadowed Lady Gaga's performance.

"Tinsel Trousers" is the new nickname one Grammy viewer bestowed upon Ricky Martin, who achieved something very few entertainers have. He effectively upstaged Lady Gaga.
Still, Lady Gaga will likely be the watercooler talk of America tomorrow as fans are wondering what exactly is represented by the egg in which Lady Gaga arrived.
According to one fan who posted his feedback on the MTV Grammys message board, Lady Gaga "is trying to symbolize that she's coming out of her shell. We're about to see the real Lady Gaga... no more conforming or being who the 'man' wants her to be."

If Lady Gaga was inside her shell before, one can only imagine what new and uninhibited Lady Gaga will be like.
After all, Lady Gaga never struck most people before as a conservative artist who was somehow holding something back.
Others, of course, contend that Lady Gaga was "reborn" tonight and that a new image will emerge for the "Born This Way" singer.
Or might the egg represent something else entirely?
