Ricky Martin joins fight to repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell

Joining Lady Gaga, who delivered a speech at a rally in Maine Monday, Ricky Martin has joined the fight to repeal 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'.

Speaking up late Monday, Martin plead with Congress to repeal the policy.

"Members of Congress:As a HISPANIC member of the LGBT community,I ask u 2 pls repeal #DADT (Don't Ask, Don't Tell) and move fwd with the#DREAMAct #enddiscrmination," Martin wrote via Twitter.

As previously reported, the chart-topping singer/songwriter, who has collaborated with acts including R&B singer Amerie and "Bionic" diva/actress Christina Aguilera ("Burlesque'), opened up about his sexuality earlier this year.

Claiming to be a "fortunate homosexual man," Martin told fans "These years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn't even know existed. What will happen from now on? It doesn't matter. I can only focus on what's happening to me in this moment. The word "happiness" takes on a new meaning for me as of today. It has been a very intense process. Every word that I write in this letter is born out of love, acceptance, detachment and real contentment. Writing this is a solid step towards my inner peace and vital part of my evolution."

Martin is also slated to release a literary project, a memoir, later this year (2010).

The senate is slated to vote on a measure that would repeal 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,' allowing openly gay and lesbian individuals an opportunity to serve in the military.

Too little too late from this douche bag who stayed not only closeted but in public denial of his sexuality at a time when he had some exposure and could have done some real help. Instead, he danced with George Bush and waited until the money stopped coming in to finally admit was so painfully obvious. Go back in the closet. You were more interesting then...marginally

This no talent has been is such an embarrassment. From his horrible music that was dated and unoriginal upon it's release to his stupid strip video to bring awareness to what exactly? He's a poser and a moron. Nobody, save for a few Latina's still carrying a torch for this cheeseball, cares at all about him.
