Latin singer (and occasional TV and soap opera actor) Ricky Martin revealed on Monday what he referred to as "things that were too heavy for me to keep inside...something worth celebrating." After several paragraphs in a blog entry on his website, Ricky ultimately closed it all with this statement:
"I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am."
Does the statement come as a shock? Only if we as a society worked too hard to identify Martin a heartthrob, someone meant to capture the hearts of many everywhere with songs such as "Livin' la Vida Loca" and "She Bangs." In reality, Martin's words are merely his way of opening the door to many of his fans for the first time. The singer joins the likes of Neil Patrick Harris, Lance Bass, and other performers who have "come out" public.
Martin had two children via a surrogate in 2008, and he cites them as the reason for revealing his sexuality now.

Of course I'm not surprised. It was so obvious. I'm glad he finally has declared it. He is still HOT regardless his sexuality.
I am not surprised..But I wonder why he had 2 boys instead of a girls...Hopefully he is not a pedofile.
Is he in a relationship? I'm sure his partner feels better about his coming out. Not that it matters now since he is not as famouse anymore.
Statistically, male pedophiles are mostly heterosexual. When you grow old enough to have children you'll also realize the sex of a baby is "also" not a choice.
I raised two boys as a single parent, out to each of them at 8 years old. Both are productive, outstanding citizens. Heterosexual both were born to be.
Good for him. I'm happy for him that he can come out so openly and be proud of who he is. I'm not really a fan, but I'm for anything that advances gay rights and awareness, so this is great news. Again, good for him.
And you all have it right: homo/heterosexuality is never a choice, we're all born one way or another. Hopefully we as a society will come to appreciate that fact and, in turn, every different kind of person for who they are.

I'm happy for Ricky, and the comment about did he choose boys? He had a surrogate using his sperm and that does not constitute choosing boy or girl as in adoption. I've loved Ricky for years and felt a kinship with him. I hope that he and whoever is his soul mate have a wonderful life together. Good luck, Ricky.
