Ricky Legere Jr. beats Sabah Homasi at Bellator 92

On March 7, 2013, at the Santa Ana Star Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ricky Legere Jr. fought Sabah Homasi. The two fighters fought at welterweight for the promotion Bellator at Bellator 92.

Legere, who trains at Millennia MMA in Rancho Cucamonga, was recently on The Ultimate Fighter 16. Legere went on the show with the hopes of winning a six-figure contract with the UFC, but he was eliminated from the show in the first episode. Despite his quick departure from the show, Legere fared well at Bellator 92.

In the first round, Homasi hit Legere with a jab, causing Legere to go for a takedown. As Legere tried to take Homasi down, Homasi nearly tossed him with a judo throw. Legere continued to go for takedowns, but Homasi struck him with a knee. Although he took some more damage from Homasi’s strikes, Legere finally scored a takedown. After getting the takedown, Legere took Homasi’s back and punished Homasi with strikes until the end of the first round.

In the beginning of the second round, Homasi was again outstriking the Millennia MMA fighter. Legere wisely decided to take the fight to the ground, where he had success in the first round. On the ground, Legere advanced to the full mount position. After Homasi gave up his back, Legere landed some strikes before sinking in the rear naked choke, forcing Homasi to tap at 2:52 of the second round.

With his win at Bellator 92, Legere is now 16-4. He is on a six-fight winning streak.
