Ricky Holliday knew it was a tough decision but one he felt like had to be done.
Today, Holliday resigned as head football coach at Meigs County after three seasons.
The Tigers are coming a 2-8 year and Holliday was 8-23 in his three years in Decatur.
"It was a really tough decision but it was one that had to be done," Holliday said. "The kids is what made it so tough but I feel like someone else needs to get to come in and get their hands on the program."
Holliday took the Tigers to the playoffs in his first year in 2011 as Meigs went 5-6 and were beaten in the Class 3A playoffs by Bledsoe County.
Since then the Tigers have had two rough years going a combined 3-17.
Currently there are open jobs at Clay County. Bolivar, Munford, Fairley, Clarksville Northwest, Ezell Harding, Red Bank, Briarcrest, Bearden, Carter, Perry County, Powell, Monterey, Clarksville, Halls, Raleigh Egypt, Unicoi County, Nashville Overton, Marion County, Davidson Academy, Kirby, Waverly, Chattanooga Central, Jackson Christian, Knoxville Central and Richland as schools currently looking for a head coach.
