Ricky Gervais to host 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards

British actor Ricky Gervais has been tapped to host the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards. A three-time Golden Globe winner himself, Gervais has provided some of the shows most memorable on-stage moments.

The Globes telecast hasn't had a host since 1995. Said Philip Berk, President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, "We are delighted to have Ricky Gervais as the host on our show."

Gervais himself seems ready to cut loose. "Not only is this the biggest Hollywood celebration of the industry, which includes both film and TV, but also an environment where I feel I can get free reign as a host," he said Monday. "I have resisted many other offers like this, but there are just some things you don't turn down."

The Golden Globes nominees will be announced December 15. The awards show will be broadcast live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on January 17 on NBC, 5-8 PM (PST) and 8-11 PM (EST).
