Ricky Gervais' 'Derek' to Return to the UK this April

Ricky Gervais' heartfelt comedy “Derek” will be returning to Channel 4 on April 23, 2014. In the new Season two trailer, fans get a glimpse at what's in store for the residents of the Broad Hill senior living facility and their faithful caretakers. Derek (Gervais), Hannah (Kerry Godliman), Dougie (Karl Pilkington) and Kev (David Earl) are all back, many of them dealing with relationship dilemmas. Derek dives into the world of internet dating while Kev gets burned by one of his lady loves.

Gervais has been busy lately gearing up for the release of the new season of "Derek," promoting his new film “Muppets Most Wanted” and advocating for an end to cosmetic testing on animals, but he took time out of his busy schedule to express his disappointment at the way women are portrayed in film and television. He told Radio Times, “Even in Hollywood, they're usually air heads or if they’re ambitious they're straight away cold and need to be taught a lesson. They need to show that getting a man is more important than getting a career. Or they’re just props for men to do funny things.”

With his hit sitcoms “The Office,” “Extras” and now “Derek,” Gervais has written complex, interesting female characters who are as engaging as they are hilarious. “Derek” will be returning to the UK next month and it will be on Netflix all over the world soon after.
