Rick Springfield was arrested at his Los Angeles home Friday morning on a bench warrant issued Wednesday, after he failed to appear for a court date pertaining to a past DUI arrest. Springfield, 63, was transported to the Lost Hills sheriff station for booking, but luckily by the time he arrived, his wife and lawyer were able to clear the matter up. In the meantime, Rick took the time to update his fans via Facebook and reassure them he’d be out in time for his Friday night performance at Eagle Mountain Casino in Porterville, Calif., according to E! News.
Rick Springfield was supposed to show in court last month for a progress report on his 2011 reckless driving arrest. The “Jesse’s Girl” singer claims he didn’t know about the court date, and thus the bench warrant was issued for failure to appear.
Rick called his wife to bring the required paperwork to the station, showing the “General Hospital” star had indeed complied with his probation requirements. Springfield was ordered to attend a three month alcohol awareness program, but claims he didn’t know he was supposed to show proof of it.
“My home away from home. Lost hills sheriff station”, Rick Springfield wrote on Facebook. “Arrested this [a.m.] on a bench warrant. I didn't know that I was supposed appear in court a few weeks ago. It was to do with the old DUI charge and it's been cleared up and i am free to go”.
Springfield was arrested in May of 2011 when his 1963 Corvette was seen speeding on the Pacific Coast Highway, according to AceShowbiz. Police found that he was driving under the influence.
Springfield pleaded no contest to the charge and received three years probation for reckless driving with “driving under the influence conditions” back in August.
