Rick Springfield returns with real-life son Liam to ‘General Hospital’

Dr. Noah Drake will be making his rounds once again at “General Hospital." Rocker Rick Springfield is slated to be heading back to the ABC soap just in time for the 50th anniversary celebration, he dished exclusively to People on Feb. 26. He will be bringing along a special surprise. His real-life son, Liam Springthorpe, is set to make his debut appearance on the show that made his dad so popular.

The “Jessie’s Girl” singer made hearts swoon back in the day when he was launching both his acting and singing career. Dr. Noah Drake became a household name in the world of soaps and Rick Springfield began his musical venture and rocked his way into making a name for himself in the music industry. He has not graced the “GH” set for a year now but fans are always excited when he makes his way back.

His real-life son will be playing the role of an undercover cop. It doesn’t sound like father and son will have any scenes together but they may just work it in down the road. However, Springthorpe seems to be breathing a sigh of relief because he says that it is a bit weird to be on the same show as his dad.

"I think it makes it much more pleasing and applicable for me because I think at least for me personally, I have always tried to keep a bit of distance from … my father's path, and respectfully so," the young actor says. "I think this is a really good way to kind of go about getting my foot in the door, meanwhile being comfortable in the process."

Liam Springthorpe also has a band called History Lessons. The boy is just as handsome as his father and will make a great addition to the daytime drama, even if it's just for a little while.
