Musical icon and actor, Rick Springfield, has been in the business for many years now. He has accomplished quite a bit in his career and now he has been recognized with the 2,526th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. According to Soap Opera Network on Monday, the singer was honored for his talent in music and as an actor.

Springfield was joined by his long time buddy, “The Young and the Restless” actor Doug Davidson (Paul Williams), and also fellow “General Hospital” co-star Jason Thompson (Patrick Drake), who plays his son on the ABC daytime drama. Singer Richard Marx also gave a moving speech, as well as the other two guys. Springfield's wife and sons, as well as a crowd of devoted fans, were on hand to cheer him on and to give their full support.

Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Leron Gubler spoke of everything that the 64-year-old musician has accomplished over the course of his life. He is best known for his mega hit song, “Jessie’s Girl”, which everyone is still singing along to today, and his acting gig portraying the one and only Dr. Noah Drake on “General Hospital.” Even though he is known as a heartthrob to his fans, his most serious role is that of a music man.

“Today, Hollywood honors performer Rick Springfield. For all of his accomplishments as an actor, bestselling author, and documentary subject, Rick Springfield’s first love has always been music and that’s a passion he has harbored ever since he first picked up the guitar at the age of 12 in his native Australia.” Gubler said in his speech.

The Australian also has a second book out. Only this time he has dabbled in the world of fiction with a novel called “Magnificent Vibration.” The book debuted on book shelves last Tuesday. In a recent interview, Springfield said that he always wanted to be a writer but then music became his main focus. His love of reading books brought him to the point of stealing reading material from local book store. He admits that this may not have been the right way of doing it, but books and his guitar were his friends at the time.

With selling more than 25 million records, his many acting gigs, and authoring two books, the star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is just icing on the cake for Rick Springfield. You can be sure that he will continue to do what he loves to do. He is currently working on a sequel to the new book and is in the process of recording new music.
