Dr. Noah Drake is on-call once more, as Rick Springdfield returns to General Hospital (GH) for its 50th anniversary -- and this time, he's bringing his real-life son Liam Springthrope, who will play an undercover cop, but father and son will not have any scenes together.
Springfield originated the role of Dr. Noah Drake from 1981 to 1983 and from 2005 to 2008 as a recurring player; he last played the role a year ago.
GH not only made Rick the original McDreamy of daytime, but it also helped kicked off his music career with "Jessie's Girl", which went #1 on the charts in 1981: becoming the anthem of power-pop and winning Rick a Grammy. Since then, Rick scored several chart-toppers such as "Don't Talk to Strangers", "Human Touch", "Affair of the Heart", "Souls", and "Love Somebody".
He starred in CBS' 1989 movie Nick Knight, which was then rechristened as the syndicated cult series Forever Knight (1992-96) with Geraint Wyn Davies as a vampire taking a bite out of crime as a police detective as atonement for his sins while seeking to reclaim his humanity.
Rick preceded Mark Valley as the Human Target in ABC's short-lived 1992 summer series about Christopher Chance, a Vietnam veteran turned private detective/bodyguard who assumes the identities of his clients in order to find out who's trying to kill them and why.
