Rick Springfield arrested in Malibu for missing court date for DUI

Rick Springfield was arrested Friday in Malibu because he missed a court day for a DUI conviction in 2011The Malibu Times reported March 8. The singer explained that it was one big misunderstanding and was taken to the Malibu /Lost Hills Sheriff's Station, which he calls "my home away from home."

Springfield is known for songs such as "Jessie's Girl" and acting in the TV soap opera "General Hospital" as Dr. Noah Drake. In February, he was supposed to appear in court to show that he had finished a court ordered alcohol education program. Completing the program was part of a plea deal he made with prosecutors so he could avoid jail time. However, Springfield didn't show up for the court appearance and sheriff's deputies issued a bench warrant for his arrest on Wednesday.

The deputies went to Springfield's home in Malibu on Friday and took him into custody and to the Sheriff's station. This all comes from the DUI arrest in May 2011. Police pulled Springfield over while he was driving his 1963 Corvette Stingray in Malibu, and the policeman smelled alcohol. At the time, police told TMZ that Springfield made threats to kill the deputy and his family if he had the car towed away.
