With all of the terrible, terrible ideas and budget issues, one thing we have yet to see from Rick Scott has been his interaction with individuals of a different race. Thus far, what we know about Scott is his belief in vile policies. But what of his record in dealing with minorities? Mr. Scott, in an attempt to introduce himself to black Florida lawmakers on Tuesday, showed the inner workings of not only an unapologetic right wing conservative, but now, with Scott, we have caught a glimpse of something different; a new darker issue, which has hit the surface in a very sinister way. Not only is the governor intent on taking Florida back to the stone age, as far as public policy goes, now we are also seeing proof that governor Scott may want a return to Jim Crow? This may sound like a far fetched notion and, in fact, could be hyperbole, yet, Florida Black lawmakers were not too happy with the most recent interaction.
Clearly, not a popular figure on Tuesday 2/15/2011, Rick Scott has attempted to extend an olive branch to minorities. During a luncheon to the black caucus, Scott remained defensive and simply held down his, sometimes, in a derogatory fashion. Scott made a reference, for example, to being from a poor background, in an attempt to relate to his audience, with an assumption because they were black lawmakers. Betty Reed, a lawmaker from Tampa, felt about his remarks that, “he assumed that everyone [in the room] was poor and that can only be because you’re black.” The strong racial implications continued throughput the luncheon; for example, when asked about why he has a lack of diversity in appointment to his his government positions, he simply states it has nothing to do with skin color but with philosophy.
The term philosophy, when it comes to disagreement of opinion, has in recent years become a buzz word for a new subtler racism. Rather than using strong and overt words, someone in a position of power, such as a CEO or lawmaker, may use more subtle less combative language to achieve the same results from the past. However, when words are taken into context, the disdain evident in such language, still points to a new type of racism (although some Tea Party activists still engage in very old fashioned and blunt attacks). When asked to to appoint more black judges, Rick Scot flatly answered, “If you think I’m going to pick someone who’s different from my judicial philosophy, it’s not going to happen.” Once again, the word “philosophy” crops its head in there. The way it was stated by Scott, with such assertive bluntness, goes to suggest that the word “philosophy” was meant to obscure a different word that was perhaps going through his head at the time.
Rick Scott as governor, thus far, has been a disaster; making terrible cabinet choices, bringing forth a budget that will decimate the state (this is another historic low), and with his attitude towards African Americans, clearly exposed his racist tendencies. It's going to be a long, arduous, four years for everyone in the state, that is unless the brand new petition to allow recalls of elected officials comes through. If the proposal is introduced, the state of Florida may be saved. Until the day does come, Floridians have got to stand strong against the Governor's philosophy.

It may need repeating before some people finally come to understanding that Rick Scott is a crook and should be serving hard time rather than living it up in the Florida Governor Mansion. He was engaged in the largest Medicare fraud in American history, and took the 5th 75 times during the case, yet this louse was foisted upon us by the brainless tea-bagging knuckle-draggers whose reason for existense is to despise Obama.
When in doubt, play the race card. At a time when we need unity, we see more activists sowing disunity. Students of disinformation, subversion and destabilization will recognize evidence of those techniques in Pupo's work.
Allan just be honest with yourself we all know what "race card" means. It is a piece of rhetoric used by truly racist individuals to justify their racist and prejudicial thoughts believe me I have known my share of true racists people and I know that the "race card" is coded Orwellian Language. When you ask some to stop playing the race card you are basically stating please allow me to be racist and hate you all I want. If that is how you want to live your life great by all means free speech gives you that ability, however it becomes a problem when racism is used to deny economic advancement or freedoms. So please just be honest with who you are and stop hiding behind this softer gentler Jim Crow Philosophy.
what can you expect from a grifter an a teahadist- course he's racist an a corpoRat quisling, that is when he's not licking up the koch brothers spit

His "philosophy" is the same as the other Tea Partiers who voted in this man, they want their country back. That country has no room for a black president or other minorities who get all uppity and expect equality. That's his philosophy. Brown folks like us are not invited to that America, thank you very much.
Alberto, I love the sentiment but the typos and grammatical errors are killing me!
"terrible, terrible ideas and budget issues, one " [missing spaces]
"Mr. Scott, in an attempt to introduce himself to black Florida lawmakers on Tuesday, showed the inner workings of not only an unapologetic right wing conservative, but now, with Scott, we have caught a glimpse of something different; a new darker issue, which has hit the surface in a very sinister way." [Run on sentence]
"Scott remained defensive and simply held down his, sometimes," [his what?]
"throughput the luncheon" [throughout?]
"more subtle less combative" [put a comma in there]
"decimate" [look it up, it doesn't mean what you think it does]
" long, arduous, four years" [comma use]
"When asked to to appoint more black judges, Rick Scot flatly answered, 'If you think I’m going to pick someone who’s different from my judicial philosophy, it’s not going to happen.'"
I guess that means that Scott doesn't think any black judge would agree with his "philosophy"
Just another racist tea-bagger.
He's been cited in the past by doctors in his company as clearly acting allergic to hiring minority health care professionals.
