According to a report by the Associated Press Saturday, rapper Rick Ross was arrested following a concert in North Carolina on Friday night. Ross, whose real name is William L. Roberts II, was released after posting his own $1,000 bond. He was taken into custody due to a failure to appear in court for a previous charge in the state.

Susan Danielsen, a spokeswoman for the Greensboro Police Department, reported that the hip-hop star had a previous misdemeanor marijuana charge in the state and was issued an order after failing to appear in court. Ross was immediately taken into custody following his performance at Super Jam, which took place at Greensboro Coliseum.

Rick Ross has yet to offer an official comment on the arrest, but that may be because the Miami native has made headlines lately. The rapper apparently threatened while attempting to gain access to the backstage gate of his Detroit concert. Afraid for his life, he ended up being a no-show at the concert. According to BET, Motor City rapper Trick Trick, who was accused of banning Ross from the Detroit show, denied such an incident.

Ross later denied the confrontation and elaborated on the fact that the venue gate was locked and he left. He told Florida’s 99 Jamz, “In the jungle you don’t lock the lions out, you let the lions in! That’s when you get the confrontation that you want, if that’s what you’re looking for.”

On a more positive note, Ross has been in headlines after dropping over 100 pounds in weight. The hip-hop star has struggled with his weight over the years and has been made fun of for being overweight. Sick of the jokes and for his own health, Ross joined Reebok’s CrossFit program. A slimmer Ross told 93.9 WKYS FM, “It was just time for me to tighten up a little big, you know what I’m saying. As far as, you know, me working out…I have no destination, no specific weight.”

Right now, the only thing Rick Ross is worried about working out is his current legal situation. No future court date has been set, but it will be weight off his shoulders to the situation resolved and hopefully reach a more peaceful destination in his career and personal life.
