In this past Wednesday's press conference, President Obama introduced congressional measures supplemented by 23 executive orders toward more gun control.
After that press conference, Texas Governor Rick Perry said he was personally disgusted by the "piling on by the political left, and their cohorts in the media" for using the Sandy Hook school shootings for their gun control agenda.
The Houston Post quotes Perry as stating,
"The Second Amendment to the Constitution is a basic right of free people and cannot be nor will it be abridged by the executive power of this or any other president.” Source
Furthermore, in his statement, Perry explains their pre-existing agenda is not the answer to violence because evil is in the heart, not guns.
"There is evil prowling in the world – it shows up in our movies, video games and online fascinations, and finds its way into vulnerable hearts and minds.
As a free people, let us choose what kind of people we will be. Laws, the only redoubt of secularism, will not suffice. Let us all return to our places of worship and pray for help. Above all, let us pray for our children."
Mike Huckabee is promoting January 20 as "A Day of Prayer." He relates,
"A DAY TO PRAY isn’t partisan or political, but is a spiritual event where believers from all faiths and walks of life will join together to pray for our selves, our families, our leaders, and our country.....
Let us stand together with one voice to determine the future of our ONE NATION UNDER GOD."
