Forward Renaldo Balkman is hoping to impress Mavrick's coach Rick Carlisle to make the teams final roster. The former first round draft pick has had issues with consistency and shooting, which may place his spot in jeopardy. That, plus the fact that the 29-year old is competing against 15 player with guaranteed spots on the roster lowers his chance of making the final cut.
One thing about Balkman that could help him is his eyelid tattoos. Two of several that he has, Balkman has the words "hustle" and "harder" on his eyelids. He got the tattoos to reflect his work ethic as a player. Coach Rick Carlisle stated in an interview that he liked the tattoos, as it showed Balkman's toughness and ability to take pain.
But, will it be enough? Unless the team is willing to take the cost of letting one of their guaranteed contract players go, Balkman's chances do not look good.
