Richie Sambora is fired from Bon Jovi's tour. From what reports are saying today its all because the band found that it's more economical to bring another guitar player along while on tour. This has Richie "really upset over the news," according to Rumor Fix on Aug. 21, 2013.
Sambora, has been in the band for 30 years and while out on tour this guitar player makes $2 million a month plus 20 percent of the profits. He's been replaced on lead guitar by Philip ‘Phil X’ Xenidis, who will make just $10,000 a month, with no profit share. This gives the others in the group a bigger piece of the pie!
After 30 years together chances are this split has more going on behind the scenes besides the other members of the band wanting the lion's share of the tour profits. There are also rumors of irreconcilable differences between the band and Sambora. What those differences are has not been made public.
“Richie wants to go back on stage" and is "really upset over the news,” as you might imagine he would be. 30 years with the band is a relationship that just doesn't one day fall by the wayside, it is longer than most marriages last today.
How are fans going to like making their way to a Bon Jovi concert and seeing Richie Sambora replaced? That would be like taking Keith Richards out of a Rolling Stones tour. Most fans want to see the original band, not another guitarist, no matter how good he may be. It's not about who comes along with deep discounts in the pay department for the fans!
