Former Chicago Mayor, Richard M. Daley has been hospitalized in ICU at Northwestern Memorial Hospital for unspecified reasons; he is currently being monitored and undergoing tests.

Daley, 71, began feeling ill on Friday, January 31 while he was on business in Arizona for the law firm Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP where he holds a counsel position.

Jacquelyn Heard, a spokesperson for Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP sent out the following statement on Saturday:

"Former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, 71, was taken by ambulance to Northwestern Memorial Hospital after returning yesterday (Friday) evening from Arizona on business feeling ill. He is in Northwestern's ICU for monitoring and evaluation. Mayor Daley's family is with him and they are visiting between tests."

According to CBS Chicago, Richard M. Daley was able to walk off the plane on his own accord before being taken to the hospital by ambulance.
