It appeared that Richard Gere, at 64 years old, was settled back into a pleasant family life to help him enjoy the wealth he has accumulated from his great fame in Hollywood. However, nothing is for sure when it comes to affairs of the heart as we are seeing with reports that Gere's marriage is on the rocks. Starpulse.com reported on Sept. 25, 2013, "Richard Gere Splits From Wife."
Richard Gere and his wife Carey Lowell have apparently gone in different directions after being married for 11 years and are calling off their marriage. Gere, who is best known for his hit role in "Pretty Woman," and 52 year old Lowell, who was a Bond girl in 1989 movie "Licence to Kill," are said to have been spending time apart for awhile. It is rumored their split is due to lifestyle variations. Gere and Lowell are both Buddhists, but Gere is said to prefer a peaceful existence at home, while Lowell is a more social and outgoing person.
Fox News has reported, "Richard Gere and wife Carey Lowell headed for divorce." Sources have said Gere and Lowell are planning to file for divorce. Gere and Lowell have a 13-year-old son, Homer. Lowell also has a 23-year-old daughter, Hannah Dunne, from her marriage to her second husband Griffin Dunne. Lowell's first husband was fashion photographer John Stember.
Gere was previously married to supermodel Cindy Crawford from 1991 to 1995. It's really too bad to see a nice Buddhist couple like Gere and Lowell split up. However, let's hope in the spirit of the Buddha everything remains peaceful and well for them and their kids.
