A 2013 US Open tennis live stream and televised match is waiting in the wings at Flushing Meadow, New York, as underdog Richard Gasquet will take on Rafael Nadal of Spain. As of this report, the pair is awaiting the finish of a fierce matchup between Novak Djokovic and Stanislas Wawrinka. The US Open 2013 live stream and TV match will be available for fans to watch on CBS or the US Open's website video feed.
An IBTimes report from Sept. 7 indicates that in terms of head-to-head match ups, Nadal has won all ten of their previous meetings. In fact, Gasquet has only won three sets out of all those matches. Nonetheless, the No. 8-ranked player will attempt to pull off the shocking upset and reach the finals. He could face either Novak Djokovic, or Stanislas Wawrinka in the finals if he does. However, Nadal is a heavy favorite heading into this match, as the No. 2 ranked men's tennis player in the world. He defeated fellow Spaniard Tommy Robredo 6-0, 6-2, 6-2 in order to make the semifinals.
To gain his spot in the semis, Gasquet upset David Ferrer in a 6-3, 6-1,4-6, 2-6, 6-3 match. Gasquet has become the first Frenchman to reach the US Open semifinals since 1999. His only previous appearance in a Grand Slam semifinals occurred back at the 2007 Wimbledon semis. Nonetheless, he welcomes the chance to play someone he calls a "good friend," as Gasquet told the media before knowing his semifinals opponent or fate, "I beat him when I was 13 in a junior tournament. Rafa is a good friend of mine so if I play him it will be great."
He'll get that opportunity on Saturday afternoon, with the game likely to stretch into the early evening hours, unless Nadal makes quick work of him. Winning against Nadal at age 13, and winning against Nadal in 2013 are two totally different realms when it comes to the competitive sport of tennis.
Saturday's matchup featuring Gasquet vs. Nadal was scheduled to start at just around 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, but due to the other men's semifinal going longer than expected, the match is being pushed back. However, CBS will bring televised coverage of the matchup, while US Open Live will show live streaming online presentation of the match at their website.
