“The Real Housewives of New York” may have started airing on Bravo once again, but the ratings are supposedly nowhere near where they were during the infamous third season of the show. On the third season, fans saw Bethenny Frankel and Jill Zarin fight it out, while Kelly Bensimon was losing her mind. The three caused the show’s ratings to go through the roof. After Bethenny quit for her spin-off show, Jill took over. She was later fired alongside Kelly after season four.
According to a new Radar Online report published on May 1, “The Real Housewives of New York” may be suffering in ratings this season, as Carole Radziwill, Aviva Drescher and Heather Thomson are not producing as much drama as Jill and Bethenny. Of course, with Bethenny’s divorce from Jason Hoppy pending, fans want to see more of her. This season thus far, the show is bringing in the worst ratings of the show’s franchise. Now, the show could face the chopping block.
Bravo has hinted that Kelly Bensimon could be returning to the show later this season. Perhaps this is an attempt to get the show back on track. “Bravo executives are watching the numbers closely and they are definitely considering getting rid of the New York franchise,” a source close to the production has revealed. This week alone, the show only brought in 1.33 million viewers, which is the lowest number since the show debuted.
Of course, the poor ratings could be thanks to the long wait between season five and this new season, as there are discussions about payments and air time. Of course, some of the major personalities, including LuAnn De Lesseps and Kelly Bensimon, will make appearances, but it may not be enough to save the show.
Do you think fans want to see Jill and Bethenny return?
