“The Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Melissa Gorga was super thrilled when her book, “Love Italian Style,” was released just a few weeks ago, but it sounds like she was quickly hit with criticism in her book. Her husband, Joe Gorga, wrote a passage in the book that seemed to promote marital rape, as he claimed that “no” never really meant “no” when it came to sex. However, she is now defending her book. According to a new Bravo blog published on Sept. 30, “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Melissa Gorga is now speaking out about her book, which has gotten much criticism since being released.
She points out that the passage was taken out of context. The reporter who started the story about the marital rape didn’t include an additional passage that talked about what other things could happen, if sex was off the table. “She’s not in mood to have sex? How about a three-minute massage instead? Men need to be touched. Skin on skin. A kiss, a hug, a massage. That’s enough on some nights,” was one passage that Melissa points out. “My wife is my life. I live to make her happy. I like it when she tells me what she wants,” was another.
In addition, Melissa points out that she does refuse her husband and that he doesn’t always get his way, even though that seemed to be what the book hinted. “When I refuse my husband, I do it nicely. I don’t slap his hand and say, “Get away from me.” The article took me to task for this. How can anyone find fault in showing kindness? I just don’t get it,” she revealed. And the book never did promote unwanted or undesired sex.
What do you think of her defense? Do you think the passage was taken out of context?
