Jacqueline Laurita announced during the fourth season reunion that her son Nicholas had been diagnosed with autism. Of course, she has been spending much time with him over the past couple of months, trying out new treatment programs to help him get back on track. And Jacqueline has even decided to film the show for a fifth season to solely spread awareness about autism and treatment options. According to a new Wetpaint Entertainment report released on Feb. 24, “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Jacqueline Laurita reveals that the diagnosis didn’t come easy. In fact, the autism has completely taken over her life.
“The entire cast and crew knew at this point that we were dealing with some serious issues with my son, but we just didn't have a label on it yet,” Jacqueline reveals about the diagnosis back when she was filming the fourth season. At some point, Chris reveals that he and “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Jacqueline Laurita are dealing with some major issues with their children, so he could have been hinting that the autism. “At this point, it was a race to get him help and every step of the way was another waiting game. Waiting to get in to see different doctors, waiting for insurance, waiting for home therapy, putting a diet and supplement plan into place, researching and seeking out help, etc. It consumed me,” she reveals.
Since filming ended, Jacqueline has tweeted plenty of updates about her son and linked to various autism reports and research. Do you think everything is still consuming her, or do you think she is making the autism a part of her life now?
