Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Teresa and Joe Giudice are facing prison time after they pleaded guilty to extensive fraud charges. According to former business partner and friend, Joe Mastropole, no matter how many years they spend in jail it won’t be enough for him.
Mastropole said, “A few years in jail is not enough. The time is not enough for the crime.” In March the Giudices pleaded guilty to multiple counts of mail, wife, bank and bankruptcy fraud. Teresa Giudice faces 27 years in prison while her husband Joe Giudice faces 47 years behind bars.
Mastropole is a construction executive who won a $260,000 court judgment in 2011 has yet to see any money. He won his judgment when Joe Giudice was found guilty of forging Mastropole’s signature on a mortgage document. Giudice also owed Mastropole a $420,902.60 real estate debt however that sum was swept away during Giudice’s bankruptcy case.
Mastropole went on to say that if they get lenient sentences others will be encouraged to commit similar crimes. “People will be willing to do a few years in jail for $13 million.” Mastropole added that the courts should “make an example out of these swindlers so other people don’t try to do the same thing.”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars are scheduled to be sentenced on July 8.
