The weekend of funk is upon us, as the live shows in Providence bring us both national and local funk/rock bands.
Jam out on Friday, Feb. 10, as George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic come to Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel (79 Washington St., Providence). Doors open at 8pm, with the show following at 9pm. Tickets are $25 in advance and can be purchased here. This show is all-ages.
Then, on Saturday, Feb. 11, join the boys at Sixx String Promotions as they bring a variety of rock/funk inspired bands to Firehouse 13 (41 Central St., Providence). Join one of Providence's newest bands, Off TheRez, as they perform with Daddie Long Legs, Mike Spaziano, Northeast Traffic, and Radio Guru. Doors open at 6:30 with the show starting at 7. Tickets are $10. This is an all-ages venue.
On Sunday, Feb. 12, join AS220 (115 Empire St., Providence) from 6pm-8pm for its Songwriters in the Round series which takes place on the second Sunday of every month. This is an acoustic show designed to demonstrate different approaches to songwriting of similar themes. This show is $5 and all-ages.
