The Real Housewives of Orange County has been on the air for several years and is currently filming its ninth season, but is the show's success based on the ladies' dramatic lives or is it all in regards to strategic setups made by the producers?
According to a December 13 Radar Online report, the producers may have more to do with it than fans would like to admit.
In a recently released email between Tamra Barney's husband and a producer, fans are getting to see some very damaging behind-the-scenes details about how the show is made -- and set up to look once it makes air.
"Let me know if you’ve changed your mind about filming the scene we spoke about — going to get ice crew with the kids and then handing them over to Tamra," producer Sally-Anne King asked Simon. "If you’re up for it, we can take it from there."
In another part of the email, Sally warned Simon, "I should be clear that we wouldn’t be able to give you any editorial approval over the footage though. Just want to make sure we’re on the same page on that."
Clearly, things in the O.C. are being set up, and possibly even manipulated, but since the cast isn't followed 24/7, there is bound to be scenes that require reshooting and setups are common. In fact, filming is typically always scheduled in advance, unless something big unfolds. So, while this report is quite telling, it's not all that shocking.
