RHOBH Brandi Glanville is in hot water after a remark on Monday night’s episode of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills", which many have labeled as racist and offensive. Following the RHOBH airing, Glanville called into “Watch What Happens Live” to apologize and told host Andy Cohen, “I’m not racist, just inappropriate 90 percent of the time.”
The comment that elicited an obtuse apology from Brandi occurred amidst a pool party when RHOBH newbie Joyce Giraud confessed she could not swim. A very drunk Brandi Glanville offered her reason for Giraud’s lack of fins, “you’re black,” and then provided her hair-raising explanation to the shocked group.
Cause they don't go in the pool because they will get their weave f*cked up . . . All my black friends can't swim. Is that bad?
The new RHOBH cast member didn’t take Glanville’s comment lightly and fired back at the 41-year-old.
Yes, I'm black. What's your problem? Puerto Ricans are black, they're Indian and they're Spanish. So I am a mix of three cultures and I'm very proud to represent all three."
According to Us Weekly, the Twittersphere erupted with anti-Glanville tweets calling the comment offensive and racist, including Kenya Moore from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
Not all black women wear hair weaves, half the women on Beverly Hills Housewives are wearing some fake hair. Brandi could not be more ignorant."
Brandi Glanville then phoned in to speak with WWHL’s Andy Cohen to offer somewhat of an apology and described her behavior as inappropriate rather than racist. Listen to “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star trip over her words on Bravo TV.
Do you think Brandi Glanville’s RHOBH’s remark is racist or just inappropriate, or both?
