The Rhinebeck Sheep and Wool festival is being held Saturday October 16 and Sunday October 17 at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, located at 6550 Spring Brook Ave Rhinebeck, NY 12572
General admission tickets are $12 a day. If you go to this link, you can purchase your tickets in advance for $9, a three-dollar savings. Children under 12 are free. 2-day ticket package is $17 and available only at the gate.
If Knitting, crocheting, weaving and or spinning are your pleasure, then this festival is a must see.
There will be book signing both days in building B. Edie Eckman will be there to sign her Around the Corner – Crochet Borders, How to knit Socks, Beyond the Square Crochet Motifs and others. Doris Chan will be there signing “Crochet Lace Innovations”. Stephanie Pearl Mc-Phee, the funny and talented Yarn Harlot and Gail Callahan Hand Dyeing Yarn and Fleece, Julie Turjoman and her book Brave New Knits (I’ll,be reviewing soon). Melissa Morgan-Oakes, author of Toe up two at a time socks, and there are still more authors for you to meet.
For the children there is Magic, Music and Ventriloquism by Steve Charney and Harry. Dog shows, from Frisbee demo’s to dog herding of sheep, Sheriff K-9 dogs and the use of their sense of smell for catching criminals, will be among the shows. Petting zoo and pumpkin chuckin will be there for the experience. See the Oxford sheep, this years special breed.

The fleece sale is now a combined species sale located in building B. Opening time for the sale is Saturday at 9 pm.
I saved the best for last, the food concessions and the vendors. There are barns and barns of vendors to browse. Yarn, fleece, roving, tools and equipment, patterns and books are there for you shopping pleasure.
I have only touched the tip of the iceberg. Start out early and pace yourself.
