RG3 recovery is 'superhuman'

The feeling among the Redskins as well as the doctors is that Robert Griffin III is making not only a speedy recovery but even "superhuman.

Dr. James Andrews, who performed Griffin's surgery, has referred to Griffin's recovery as “superhuman.” Now Redskins coach Mike Shanahan has said in an interview on April 6, 2013 that Griffin's dedicated and hard works is what is leading to his quick recovery.

“He’s at the facility, rehabbing all of the time. He’ll set a record for coming back because that’s how hard he works,” Shanahan said.

The Redskins are going to do their best to be cautious with Griffin. They have a capable quarterback behind him in Kirk Cousins. The need to rush him is not there. The Redskins will not even commit to a time when he will be on the field at full speed yet.

“He is ahead, but there’s a process. It takes time. Robert will do it the right way and we’ll find out in July exactly where he’s at,” Shanahan said. “He will not come back until he’s 100 percent.”

Some may expect Griffin to make an Adrian Peterson type return. It's not to say that he can't, but it is not expected. This injury may actually make Griffin a better quarterback. He will learn to be more cautious and slide, as well as throw it away to live another day. His running ability does make him a dangerous quarterback, but most running quarterbacks slowly learn to be primarily pocket passers. This injury just may push him in that direction a little earlier than expected.
