According to a report today by Wrestlezone, WWE superstar Rey Mysterio is in the final months of his current WWE deal, and with it looking like there is not a top spot for him on the company's roster right now, he may not stay with the company. It is also reported that there is industry speculation that the former WWE World Champion may jump the Mexican-based AAA Wrestling which is produced by former WCW wrestler and close friend of Mysterio, Konnan.
AAA Wrestling comes to American television later this year on the El Rey Network. The show is set to begin taping in August. For more on AAA coming to the United States, read this article.
Mysterio has been plagued by many injuries in the past few years, including numerous knee surgeries since his career started in 1989. In recent years, injuries have forced Mysterio to miss big events like Wrestlemania. The Master of the 6-1-9 has drastically adjusted his in-ring athletics to work around his injuries, and has remained one of the more exciting performers in the WWE. The 39-year old luchador has been one of top Latino stars in pro wrestling for most of his career, winning the WWE, World, and Intercontinental Championships.
Pro Wrestling Examiner's Perspective: If these are indeed the last days of Mysterio in the WWE, this Examiner is hopeful that the biggest 'little man' in the business gets to thrill fans one more time on the big stage of Wrestlemania 30 on April 6th. No matter look for Rey Mysterio to make something out of his last few months in WWE.
