This season Rex 1516 is soft launching some amazing new dinner and dessert menus. Comfort food classics like the Crawfish Pot Pie remain, but new selections from Executive Chef Justin Swain showcase seasonal ingredients in the best possible way! From the the food to the new fall cocktails to the decor, Rex 1516 really comes into its own in the cooler months. And this new menu is their best yet.
Starters include twists on Southern classics, like Green Eggs & Ham - herbed deviled eggs with crispy tasso ham and Fried Oysters - served over bacon grits with micro arugula. Entrees highlight Chef's passions as well as seasonal ingredients, like a Smoked Half Chicken - served with baked beans and "not your mom's potato salad" and Farro Risotto - with charred onion stock, seasonal mushrooms & squash and fried sage.
“With each menu changeover we try to bring the wonderful flavors of the season into our selections,” says Executive Chef Justin Swain. “The restaurant really comes into its own in the cooler months and this menu is the perfect example of that. It’s our best one yet.”
New Pastry Chef Brian DeMuro, past winner of The Food Network's "Sweet Genius," has collaborated with Chef Swain to develop a new dessert menu. Each dessert is more stellar than the next and keeps with the theme of paying homage to Southern roots with elevated twists and seasonal ingredients. The Sweet Potato Panna Cotta with cranberry preserves, a cinnamon cookie crumble and fried mint will put Aunt Betty's sweet potato pie to shame.
