There is a significant amount of money available to the person who steps up to provide the tip which will lead the authorities to whoever skinned a terrier mix named "Patty," reported Wednesday's MLive.com.
The reward has been increased from $1,000 to $8,500 for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for the brutal skinning and stabbing of Patty.
The Michigan Humane Society announced the reward offering on Wednesday:
Our Cruelty Investigation Department, The Humane Society of the United States and Providing for Paws are offering a combined $8,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for skinning and stabbing a rat terrier alive on Woodmere Street on Detroit’s Southwest Side.
Anyone with information or who may have witnessed this vicious act, please contact our MHS Hotline at (313) 872-3401.
Five-year-old Patty was discovered on September 12 in Detroit, Mich. Someone had neatly cut away a huge portion of Patty's skin, in an area spanning her neck, all the way up to her ears; she was also stabbed.
Since Patty's discovery, she has been under the care of a veterinarian, through the rescue organization, Providing for Paws.
Patty has undergone surgeries to help close the massive, gaping wound on her body; she may have to undergo skin grafts as well.
