Newark, NJ - A morning press-release from the Associated Humane Societies, Inc., is nothing less than horrifying. A dog was found on Friday, impaled on a cyclone fence at Weequahic Park.
She had been left to die.
The dog, a young Pit bull mix, has been named Marvel. Marvel because she survived her horrific wounds. Marvel because somehow, the massive injuries that she received did not affect her internal organs.
It is believed that someone did not want this sweet, trusting dog to follow them - so they attempted to throw her over the fence, but they failed miserably.
Instead of throwing her over the fence, she was impaled on the fence - her abusers did nothing to help her - they walked away, leaving her there to die.
The animal control officer that responded to the call found Marvel quietly hanging from the fencing.
Officer Larry Freeman feared that the severely injured dog might bite him as he maneuvered her body from the fencing, but she remained quiet throughout the ordeal.
Marvel was immediately taken to the Associated Humane Societies where she was quickly sedated and treated.
According to Associated Humane Societies/Popcorn Park Executive Director Roseann Trezza, the dog is convalescing at AHS Newark Medical Department.
When Marvel recovers, she will be placed up for adoption.
Anyone with information about the individual(s) responsible for this act of cruelty is asked to contact the Humane Society at 973-824-7080. A $1000 reward is being offered by AHS for the perperators' conviction.
Individuals hoping to donate towards Marvel's veterinary expenses can do so by contributing to the AHS ResQ Fund.

I knew this dog was a pit bull, before I read the story, when I saw the location (New Jersey). I don't know what could possibly convince someone that doing something like this is "OK", but our world is getting sicker and sicker by the passing moment. Many of these perpetrators are males in their 20's and 30's. Where were their parents? Regardless, they are all grown up now, and should be making decisions more conducive to being productive adults. Our laws do not provide justice for the animals that suffer at their hands, but the laws of the Bible provide swift justice that matches "an eye for an eye". You may be forgiven, but you will still have to pay. I hope I'm in the court to watch.

You know the old adage, what you do to your pet , what will you do to another human being such as a child ? You are nothing but a disgusting vial POS that really doesn't deserve to walk on this earth. May we find solace in the fact that there is a better place and you will reap what you sow, you piece of s___t. Someone upstairs will remember what you did to a creature of God. good grief! Penny, I seriously don't know how you continue to write these stories day after day, I'd be in a straight jacket or jail! But thank you for doing it! The public needs to be educated on animal abuse and yes, laws need to change. So many people turn a blind eye, they just don't want to acknowledge this type of stuff really happens. I got blocked from most of my friends on FB for posting things like this-they just don't want to see it, and that's the problem--people NEED to see this and step up and give these babies a voice! The creature(s) that did this must be found and punished, preferably by being hung, drawn, and quartered. Again, anyone capable of doing something like this does not deserve to walk this earth. The good news is that God is watching and they are bound to rot in hell. The bad news is that we can't watch.

Such horrible injuries, yet this sweet dog did not react badly when the officer offered assistance. A true testament to the beautiful soul of the American pit bull terrier!
Disgusting, repulsive, sickening human beings. Their mothers should have abort them. We must find those bastards and make them suffer. Somebody got to know something. All this abuse got to stop.

This is another example of animal abuse on the rise...with that goes child abuse and domestic violence...it's all connected...and then people who can do this to an animal is capable of murder.
OMG, this makes me sick....and I'm crying at the same time. As someone else said, God sees all and someone will eventually pay for this horrific crime.
I am so thankful that Marvel survived. If I was looking to adopt another dog, she'd be the first one on my list but I know she'll find someone else to love her.

Poor Marvel. The only good to come from this is from animal lovers like us. Someone whose heart was deeply touched by this poor girl's horrific past will give her the most amazing life possible. It is so sad that this is how she will have an opportunity to feel love and companionship, but I am confident that she will have it soon enough. Recover well, sweet Marvel.
Marvel, I hope and pray that you turn out alright and receive a loving and caring home. I hope to god that they find the culprits and do it to them what they did to her and let them see how it feels.
