KINSTON, N.C. -- On Saturday morning, police were called out to the home of Shelby Clark, who reported a horrific story of animal cruelty.
One of her rabbits had been decapitated. Another had been skinned alive.
Two more rabbits were stolen from their cage. The rabbit which had been skinned alive did not survive.
The Lenoir County SPCA reported on their Facebook page:
“The REWARD for info leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for torturing two pet rabbits and stealing two more is now $2,500 thanks to contributions from a private donor and the ASPCA.”
The Lenoir County SPCA asks anyone with information to please call the Kinston Police Department tip line at 252-939-4020. The SPCA adds “Our community and surrounding communities need to join forces to identify the individual(s) and get them off the street. This degree of cruel behavior is often linked to child abuse, elder abuse, domestic violence, and community violence. By sharing on your page, you may be the hero who prevents this from happening again.”
