Reward offered for information about who put Maryland puppy into trash bag

The Humane Society of the United States is offering up a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for putting a pit bull puppy inside of a garbage bag.

According to a story published Monday at the Washington Examiner, an 8-month-old pit bull puppy, since named "Hershey," was found tied inside of a garbage bag last Tuesday.

Officials believe that the bagged puppy, confined and unable to escape, was tossed from a vehicle.

Life for this puppy appears to have been difficult apart from the obviously cruel manner that he was discarded.

The puppy's feet were urine soaked, suggesting that he was confined to a small space, likely a kennel or crate, for long periods of time. According to an exam by a veterinarian, Hershey is also underweight for his age.

The bagged and discarded pup was found on Westphalia and Upper Marlboro roads in Upper Marlboro, Md.

If you recognize this puppy or have any information about who may be responsible, please contact the Prince George's County Animal Management Division: 301-780-7241.

When Hershey is fully recovered from his ordeal, he will be placed up for adoption. Click here to see the adoptable dogs at this facility.
